Personal care, the way you would do it yourself

A respectful hand with the everyday routines that get you ready for the day — at the pace and in the order that suits you. Your workers learn how you like things, not the other way around.

What your worker can help with

Some of the most common kinds of personal care our workers provide. Tell us your routine and we'll match you with workers who fit it.

  • Showering, bathing and personal hygiene
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Hair washing, brushing and styling
  • Shaving and grooming
  • Skin care and nail care
  • Oral and dental hygiene
  • Toileting and continence support
  • Help getting in and out of bed
  • Mealtime help — eating, drinking, prompting
  • Medication prompts (where you manage your own)
  • Getting ready for work, study or the day ahead
  • Evening routines and winding down

Who this kind of support is for

Personal care is one of the most common supports we provide. There's no minimum or maximum — some people want help with one part of the day, others want a familiar face through the whole morning.

People with disability

Anyone whose disability affects parts of their daily routine and who'd value a consistent, experienced hand.

Families and carers

Families looking for trained, reliable workers for a loved one's daily personal care — without juggling a roster yourselves.

Anyone in recovery

People recovering from illness, surgery or injury who want a respectful hand for a season — short-term arrangements welcome.

How personal care is funded under the NDIS

Where it usually sits in your plan

Personal care typically comes out of Core supports — Assistance with Daily Life in your NDIS plan.

Most participants use Core Assistance with Daily Life funding for personal care. Inaro works with self-managed and plan-managed participants; your plan manager (or you, if self-managed) pays our invoices.

Not sure how your plan is managed or what your funding covers? Our team is happy to talk it through, and we always recommend confirming with your plan manager or support coordinator.

Common questions about personal care

Can I choose a worker of a specific gender?

Yes — personal care is intimate work, and choosing a worker you feel comfortable with is part of the point. Filter by gender preference when you browse, and we will only match you with people who fit.

What if my routine changes day to day?

That's normal. You and your worker build a flexible rhythm — they get to know what stays the same and what changes, and adjust without you having to explain it every time.

Are workers allowed to lift or transfer me?

Yes, where it is part of your support plan and the worker is trained in safe manual handling and use of any equipment (e.g. hoists, transfer aids). We will only match you with workers who are trained for the transfers you need.

What happens if a worker is sick?

Most people build a small team of two or three trusted workers, so there's always a familiar option. If you need cover at short notice, our team can help you find another worker quickly.
