How 'out & about' support is funded under the NDIS
Where it usually sits in your plan
Community access typically sits under Core supports — Assistance with Social and Community Participation.
Self-managed and plan-managed participants can use this funding to book community access with Inaro. Funding usually covers the worker's time — entry tickets, food, transport and similar costs are typically yours to cover.
Your plan manager or support coordinator can confirm exactly what's in your plan and how it applies.
Common questions about out-and-about support
Do workers join in activities, or just accompany me?
Whichever you want. Some people prefer a worker who joins in (great for sport, classes, group activities); others want someone who steps back. Tell your worker what you'd like.
Who pays for the worker's coffee or ticket?
Generally you cover incidental costs for your worker on outings — a coffee, an entry ticket, parking — but always check with your plan manager about what your plan allows.
Can I try new things with my worker?
Absolutely — that's one of the best parts. Tell your worker what you'd like to explore and they can help you plan.
What about transport to and from?
See Transport for how transport works with Inaro workers — your worker can drive you, ride public transport with you, or meet you there.
